Spotlight on Our Religious Sisters and Brothers at St. Mary’s

Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scranton, PA (IHM)

Our Sisters living at St. Mary’s Convent include Sr. Sandra McMahon, Sr. Teresa Raftery, Sr. Elizabeth Mary Wallace, Sr. Constance Wilt. The Founders of the IHM Sisters are Rev. Louis Florent Gillet, CSSR, and Mother Theresa Maxis Duchemin, IHM, in the spirit of St. Alphonsus Liguori – and founded right here in the US. The Mission of the Congregation is to follow Jesus as a community of disciples, aware that they are sent to be a clear and understandable prophetic witness to the presence of God in the world. Inspired by the missionary zeal of their Founders, they strive to be faithful to their Charism, that is: to rejoice and to share in Jesus’ redemptive mission to proclaim the Good News of God’s universal love and to recreate the face of the
earth. They are characterized by joyful, loving, hospitable, and self-emptying service to
the people of God. They engage in and sponsor a variety of ministries that meet contemporary needs and foster the full development of human potential. Website: www.sistersofi hm.org.

Marist Brothers of the Schools – “The Little Brothers of Mary” (FMS)

Our Brothers currently living in the Clapham Avenue Community include Bro. Ken Robert, Bro. Armand Lamagna, Bro. Todd Patenaude. The Marists have St. Marcellin Champagnat as Founder – in war-torn France in 1817. The Mission of the Marist Brothers is to make Jesus known and loved through the Christian education of youth, especially the most neglected. They share a vocation together, living simple lives in communities that serve others. They teach and guide the young toward a future rich in knowledge, service to others, and strong spiritual values. They are educators, mentors, friends. Marist Brothers – real brothers, real people, real stories, who make a real difference! E-mail: MaristBrothersUS@aol.com; vocations@maristbr.com.
