Catholic Ministries Appeal
The Catholic Ministries Appeal is a Diocesan Appeal, which began in 1978.
The Appeal enables the Diocese to respond to the needs of our diocesan
family through charitable, pastoral and educational programs and services.
In addition, through the Parish Sharing Program, the ministries of the
parish receive financial assistance. Committee members plan each year’s
Appeal and then evaluate the year’s efforts.
Blood Drive
The gift of giving of oneself for the benefit of others is evident in every
donor. It is evident in the volunteers who make calls to past donors, who
sign up donors at church on Sunday, and assist on the day of the drive by
welcoming donors. It is a coming together of parishioners to feel good about
themselves in helping others. Blood drives are held twice a year, in
conjunction with the Long Island Blood Service.

and young adults are urged to assist with any of these programs. Many
positions are available. General positions are Director, Treasurer,
Administrative Coordinators, PR Coordinator, and Sports Level Coordinators.

Parish Golf Outing
In June, St. Mary’s holds its annual Parish Golf Classic and Dinner. This
annual event brings together parishioners and their friends for a full
day of sport and evening of festivities. Over the last few years the
proceeds have made it possible to remodel the front entrance of the Church,
renovate the air conditioning system, install new gardens between the
rectory and church and make other capital improvements.
Respect Life
Committee
Respect Life is dedicated to the proclamation that all life is sacred from
the moment of conception until the end of life’s journey. The Committee
sponsors seven activities a year. Each member is invited to participate in
all activities, depending on their available time. Our purpose is to aid in
the church’s overall efforts to spread the gospel of life and illuminate the
problems of the culture of death amongst which we live.

Rosary Society
The Rosary Society fosters devotion to Mary though prayer and works for the
causes that would be dear to her heart. The Society organizes several
spiritual days during which Mass is celebrated and a guest speaker is
invited. A lunch is served in a setting that is very conducive to an
informal and warm interaction among the members. There are two major fund
raising events held each year – the Christmas Boutique and the Spring
Brunch, and these enjoyable gatherings provide funding for donations to
causes that are chosen throughout the year.

Scouting
Scouting is open to all young boys and girls of the parish. Scouting
encourages service to the community and growth in leadership skills.
Meetings are held throughout the year.
