St. Mary’s First Holy Hour is a Huge Success

On Thursday, March 21st, over 65 students and faculty members of St. Mary’s High School gathered for prayer and fellowship for our first ever Holy Hour. This event is the first of three which take place this spring organized by Mr. Kevin White and Ms. Anna Green in the Theology department, and Fr. Jiha Lim, our school chaplain.

After dismissal, students and accompanying teachers were encouraged to come to the church, where the Blessed Sacrament would be exposed for Adoration by Fr. Jiha Lim. In the spirit of prayerful reflection, quiet musical accompaniment was provided by Ms. Anna Green, who sang and played acoustic Christian songs. As the students prayed quietly, they considered the opportunity to have time away from the busyness of student life before the Eucharist, the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Christ. Many later expressed feeling a sense of peace, calm, and comfort as they prayed. Fr. Jiha read from the Gospel and gave a short talk before the students. He also lead them in the postures and prayers of Adoration for those new to the beautiful form of worship.

After Adoration, students shared pizza in the Marist cafeteria, followed by a delightful game of dodgeball, with the help of Ms. Mary Cornell and Mr. Paul Nussbaum as referees. Some students were excited to see that Mr. White and Ms. Green were joining in the game with them!

All students and faculty are welcome at the next Holy Hour, which will take place on Friday, April 12th at 2:40 p.m. For more pictures of this event, head to our Facebook or Instagram pages (@stmaryhs).
