Saint Mary’s provides an opportunity for academic enrichment, leadership development, and recreational activities for the young men and women of Queens and Long Island. This three week program is geared towards rising eighth graders, and runs Monday – Thursday. In the tradition of the Marist Brothers of the Schools and Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary we look to educate students with a passion for learning and a desire to grow as leaders among their peers. Acceptance to this program is on a limited basis and geared towards students who look to grow in leadership and scholastic achievement.

Admission to the L.E.A.D. Program requires the completion of an application.  The deadline for applications is May 31, and acceptances will be mailed in early June.

Complete the application online right here.

Registration & Fee

In keeping with our goal to educate all children, the full three week Program is kept at only $400. (See above for available options). This will include the cost of field trips, a t-shirt, and any supporting materials. You may pay for the Program online.

Course of Study

The Program will focus on strengthening the students’ mathematics, reading, and English language arts skills. Students will be exposed to preparation for the TACHS & CHSEE Exam.  Students will apply the skills acquired in their coursework through the integration of technology and hands-on learning.  Students will see the logical reasoning required to move a robot, or explore how to create their own app. There will be a component of the Program that looks to develop the individual’s leadership skills as well.  Beyond these core course, elective course are offered around the interest of our teachers.  They could be anything from art to robotics, again dependent upon the instructor.

Field Trips

Throughout the summer there will be a number of field trips.  On the day of a field trip the campers will wear their St. Mary’s Camp shirts, and generally will run the same length of time as a regular day.

Leadership Seminar & Retreat

There will be weekly leadership seminars and students will participate in an extended day retreat toward the end of the program. The faculty and administration of the Program will serve as guides for the young men and women on this day of spiritual and leadership development. The students will take part in a array of team building activities and look to grow in their own self confidence and faith.

The students will attend class in the mornings and then have an afternoon of recreation. Saint Mary’s has three full size gymnasiums as well as a turf lacrosse/soccer field. There will be plenty of space and time for your child to get outside and enjoy some healthy competition. We have also contracted with the Town of North Hempstead and swimming will be available this year!

Students will have opportunities to serve those who are less fortunate. Service opportunities will include making food for the needy and bringing in clothes/supplies for the homeless. As we build leaders, we want our students to recognize the blessings in their own lives and how their actions can change the world around them for the better.
