International Night Delights with Tastes and Sounds of Global Cultures

International Night Delights with Tastes and Sounds of Global Cultures

On Friday, April 12th, St. Mary’s hosted our first International Night, spearheaded by Mrs. Haldenwang and Mr. Puca. The evening of food, music, and games benefitted those aiding the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. Local restaurants donated cuisines from around the world, such as Italian eggplant meatballs, Spanish paella, Caribbean fried rice, Indian vegetable biryani, and Chinese lo mein. Several of the restaurants who contributed were owned by St. Mary’s families, and we want to give a special thanks to them for the delicious donation! Those attending were also treated to vocal and dance performances from St. Mary’s students which reflected or came from various global traditions, such as Spanish and Japanese dance, Italian and Spanish songs, Irish step-dancing, and poetry from around the world. Raffles were available, as were fun games of international trivia. We look forward to making this a new tradition!
