Establishing a Scholarship

Named Funds are established with a minimum gift of $25,000. This allows a meaningful award to be given annually while the principal is invested in competitive financial funds to yield interest. A spending formula can be established with the donor, but 1-3% is recommended.

126 students received scholarship awards in 2011-12.

Awards start at $500. $ 9,125 is the tuition cost for 2012-13.

Donors of named funds can work with the Office of Development to design selection criteria that is meaningful to them. Donors are encouraged to consider criteria that will allow the fund to be awarded each year. While the criteria are different for each scholarship, the genuine gratitude of the recipients is always consistent.

Donors receive stewardship reports on an annual basis and are recognized in the Annual Report.

St. Mary’s High School is so grateful to alumni, parents, and friends who have established and contributed to scholarship and tuition assistance funds over the years. We encourage others to consider named fund as a way to perpetuate the legacy of those for whom we recognize with each award.
